Album In A Bottle
Follow the Bottle
Back in July Ásgeir recorded 30 unique 7" vinyls during his 24h Straight to Vinyl recording marathon, broadcasted as live slow TV on the Icelandic national television and on Ásgeir's Youtube channel world-wide. Read more about the project below. In the last few weeks, Ásgeir's fans world-wide have had the opportunity to get their hands on one of those vinyls via treasure hunts that have taken place in different territories. BUT one of these vinyls is getting a very special treatment. It's been turned into a bottle message equipped with a GPS-tracker. This very special bottle message was dropped in the ocean 40km Southwest of the Reykjanes peninsula on November 3rd 2017 and now we can follow its travels that may take a few weeks, months or years to see who the lucky winner will be in the end. The project is a collaboration between Ásgeir, Verkís (engineering firm), Ævar vísindamaður and the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service.
Music on the 7" in the bottle message:
A SIDE: Hljóða nótt
B SIDE: Hærra
Both songs were originally included on Ásgeir's critically acclaimed debut album Dýrð í dauðaþögn but the stripped back versions included on the 7" can be played below.

About The Project
The Straight to vinyl project
In collaboration with the Icelandic national television (RÚV) Ásgeir has announced his Straight to Vinyl project where he will be recording stripped down versions of his music directly to 7" vinyl records during the course of 24 hours. The project will take place in his studio in Iceland and will be broadcasted as live Slow TV on the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV) and on Ásgeir’s YouTube channel worldwide between 5pm UTC on July 5th and 5pm UTC on July 6th.
Each vinyl made is handwritten and will include unique recordings that won't exist anywhere else. The albums will be made available to Ásgeir's fans via an international scavenger hunt to be announced at a later date. Ásgeir encourages his fans to tune in and participate in the event on social media with the hashtag #asgeirstraighttovinyl and by commenting on YouTube which songs they'd like to see performed and recorded.
